I have a lot of young nieces and nephews, and this recipe is so fun for them and one that they DEVOUR! This makes for the perfect dessert for family get-togethers and gives that yummy goodness that everyone craves!
How to Make M&M Cookie Bars
To make M&M cookie bars, start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter with a hand mixer. Be sure the butter is brought to room temperature, otherwise it will not be a smooth consistency when mixing. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix well until creamy.
Gradually add in the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until well combined. Next, stir in the M&Ms and chocolate chips. I prefer to use a wooden spoon as opposed to the hand mixer to stir in the chocolate pieces so they don’t get easily crushed.
Into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread the cookie dough evenly across the bottom of the dish. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the bars to cool completely, and then cut into squares and enjoy!
How to Store Cookie Dough
Refrigerator: Prepare the cookie dough as described above and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days before baking. Bring to room temperature before baking.
Freezer: The cookie dough can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months before baking. Bring to room temperature before baking.
