You will love these easy make-ahead breakfast sandwiches! They are perfect for stocking your freezer and are customizable for each family member.
Breakfast Sandwiches
These breakfast sandwiches are one of my favorites to make and stock the freezer with. They are so simple to make and best of all they can be made based on your family’s preferences. These easy breakfast sandwiches are made with English muffins, cooked eggs and sliced cheese. Top with your favorite choice of breakfast meat including bacon, sausage, ham, or Canadian bacon.
My family is busy almost every weekend with sports tournaments, and these breakfast sandwiches are perfect for us when we are in a hurry to get out the door to early games on the road. Simply pull your favorite sandwich out of the freezer and microwave and now you have a quick breakfast to eat in the car! Goodbye fast food restaurants, we’ve already grabbed breakfast!
These breakfast sandwiches are such a time saver! Seriously, take the time to meal prep them and place in your freezer. You will thank yourself later when you don’t have time for breakfast and then you remember you have breakfast in the freezer that you can grab and eat in the car on your way to wherever you are going. HOORAY!
How to Make Breakfast Sandwiches for the Freezer
To make breakfast sandwiches, start by preheating the oven to 325 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and salt and pepper together. Pour the egg mixture in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Bake the eggs for 18-22 minutes until the center is set. Be sure not to overcook the eggs. Allow the eggs to cool once cooked, and then cut them into 12 squares.
To assemble the sandwiches, start by cutting your English muffins open. I like to use English muffins because they freeze well, but feel free to use biscuits or whatever other type of sandwich that you prefer.
Next, place one of the pre-sliced pieces of egg onto each sandwich. Next, add a slice of cheese. I use cheddar for the recipe, but American or Swiss would also work well for these breakfast sandwiches depending on your preferences.
Next, you will pick your meat of choice to add to each sandwich. My family likes a variety of bacon, sausage, and Canadian bacon. For the bacon and sausage patties, you will need to pre-cook these before placing on the sandwiches. The best part is you get to choose which meat to place on the sandwiches! So by all means, if your family is bacon-lovers, then make all bacon sandwiches!
Lastly, finish up by placing the other half of the English muffins on top of the sandwiches. The sandwiches are now ready for freezer preparation at this point. For any that you want to eat right away, you will place in the oven at 325 degrees F for about 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted.
How to Make Breakfast Sandwiches for the Freezer
Once the breakfast sandwiches are assembled, the freezer preparation can begin. This is a fun way for the kids to get involved and help with the freezer preparation!
Start by individually wrapping each breakfast sandwich with Saran wrap. Next, wrap each sandwich in aluminum foil. Lastly, be sure to label each sandwich with the contents for easy retrieval.
To Freeze: Place wrapped sandwiches in the freezer and store for up to 3 months.
To Reheat: (From Frozen) – remove foil and plastic wrap. Place on microwave safe plate and put in microwave for 2 minutes. (Thawed) – remove foil and plastic wrap. Place on microwave safe plate and put in microwave for 1 minute.
